In summer, Provincetown’s population swells from 3,000 to 60,000—and for good reason. It’s the time of year when parties and parades bookend lazy afternoons lounging by the ocean. After Memorial Day, artists, families, and members of the LGBTQ+ community flock to this narrow tip of the Cape for Provincetown’s unique blend of history and culture, and the many unforgettable events that define summer in Provincetown. Much of the Town is also walkable, so consider leaving your car at home and hopping a ferry or parking it at your B&B all week long.

Summer Events
Provincetown’s summer events schedule is about as eclectic and colorful as the artwork that lines its galleries. Thousands of people file into the narrow streets for events like Girl Splash, Family Week, and the Portuguese Festival. But the Town might draw its largest crowd in August: Provincetown Carnival is a weeklong celebration of LGBTQ+ life that culminates with an extravagant parade down Commercial Street.
