Provincetown in the Fall

Beautiful weather, great food, shopping, and events

Provincetown in the fall offers a relaxed charm, a deep exhale after the bustling energy of summer. The light that has lured artists here for more than a century is downright striking this time of year. Everything also becomes more laid-back. Restaurants that had lines spilling into the streets in the summer happily usher you to an open table. Stores have sales. And the weather gently welcomes a new season with temperatures in the mid-50s.

2023 Events

In the fall, you can snag a cozy window seat and still experience unforgettable events, from costume balls to the lighting at the Pilgrim Monument. In October, thousands of women converge for Women’s Week, which manages to fit over 150 events, including comedy, music, and sports, in just 7 days. Come for the art and stay for the fun with events like Washashore Festival. Later, during Halloween, the Town hosts haunted houses, costume balls, and contests. And in November, the town flips the switch on more than 3,000 lights on the Pilgrim Monument to commerate the Pilgrims first landing in Provincetown.

Postcards from Provincetown

“When you drive up the Cape and go to the point—all the other stuff has left you. By the end of the drive, you are someone different. You’re in a totally free environment.”
