PROVINCE TOWN – As one of the 84 Green Communities in the Southeast Region of Massachusetts, Provincetown will become a single-use plastic bag free zone beginning April 15. 2015.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable bags when shopping. Retail stores and restaurants will also have the option of offering their customers reusable or paper bags at no charge or at a reasonable fee.

The banning of plastic bags is intended to decrease the impact such bags have on the environment and the threat they impose to animals on land and at sea.

Thank you for your understanding and supporting this environmentally-friendly initiative.
